Abstract

The research aims to show the effect of economic growth measured by the average per capita real gross domestic product (AGDP), and poverty measured by the absolute poverty line (ZP)) on the disparity in income distribution as measured by the Gini coefficient in the Iraqi economy for the period (1996-2019). The research is based on the analytical descriptive approach and the quantitative, quantitative approach based on econometrics، The results of the analytical side showed that the Iraqi economy witnessed an increase in the rates of inequality in the distribution of income and poverty and a decrease in the indicators of economic growth, as the average value of the Gini coefficient, which summarizes the state of disparity in the distribution of income (0.379) for the period (1996-2019), which means that The Iraqi economy is characterized by a high degree of disparity in income distribution during the research period, and the average absolute poverty line is (121,069) dinars, While the highest average per capita real GDP was (5515.13) dinars in (2016), while the results of the standard aspect showed: the existence of a positive significant relationship between the disparity in the distribution of income (Gini) and economic growth (AGDP) and slowing down the dependent variable ((Gini_(t-1)
